【College News】The Evaluation and Inspection Work of the Architecture Major of Our University Was Successfully Completed

From May 8 to 9, in accordance with the arrangement of the National Evaluation Committee for Architectural Professional Education, an evaluation and inspection expert group composed of Li Ziping, professor-level senior architect of China Northwest Architecture Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Zhao Qi, Deputy Director of the Chinese Architectural Society, and Huang Yong, professor of Shenyang Jianzhu University, conducted an on-campus evaluation and inspection on the postgraduate education of the architecture major of our university.

On the morning of May 8, the meeting with the evaluation and inspection expert group was held in Room 104 of the University Conference Center. Wang Fazhou, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan University of Technology, heads of relevant functional departments such as the Graduate School, college leaders, teacher and student representatives attended the meeting. Li Ziping, leader of the evaluation and inspection expert group, introduced the inspection process, listened to the introduction of Vice President Wang Fazhou on the development of the university and the report of Professor Chen Ming, Director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, on the operation of postgraduate education of the architecture major.

During the on-campus inspection, the expert group inspected the school space of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, observed the exhibition of architectural professional development achievements, excellent student works and design-type dissertation, reviewed the teaching management documents, inquired about the situation of carrying out teaching research activities, and held forums with representatives of graduate tutors and professional course teachers, graduate students, graduates and employers. During this period, the expert group focused on inspecting the differentiated training methods and effects of academic and professional masters, especially the dissertation situation of professional master students.

At the feedback meeting of the expert group's evaluation opinions on the afternoon of May 9, Team Leader Li Ziping read out the expert group's inspection opinions and pointed out that the school's architecture major has clear school-running ideas and goals, and has accumulated school-running experience and advantages in talent training, teaching management, academic research and other aspects. The overall quality of architecture students is high and their mental outlook is good. At the same time, combined with the rectification situation in the previous stage, the expert group put forward valuable suggestions on improving assessment standards, curriculum system and file classification.

Vice Secretary Zhao Jing, on behalf of the university, said that the university will combine the opinions and suggestions of the expert group to do a good job in three aspects: "deepening the innovation of educational concepts and building a full-cycle educational ecology", "strengthening the connotation construction of the major and building a benchmark for the reform of new engineering", and "optimizing the quality assurance mechanism and cultivating a conscious quality culture", so as to promote the discipline development of the architecture major.

Dean Wu Bin made a statement, saying that the college will fully and profoundly understand and analyze the opinions of the expert group, actively rectify and improve the teaching management system, and promote the construction of the new Department of Architecture and Urban Planning in the South Lake Engineering Comprehensive Training Center (Phase II).

Heads of relevant departments of the university, including the Graduate School, Personnel Department, International Affairs Office, Experimental Equipment Department, Logistics Management Department and Library, members of the leadership team of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and teacher representatives of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning participated in relevant meetings and relevant links of the evaluation and inspection.
