Overview:

The undergraduate major offered by this department is road and bridge engineering in civil engineering. Professional courses include Concrete Structure Design Principles, Steel Structure and Composite Structure Design Principles, Foundation Engineering, Subgrade and Pavement Engineering, Road survey and Design, Highway Engineering Testing Technology, Construction Organization and Budget of Highway engineering, Tunnel Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Bridge Seismic Design, Bridge Engineering Application Software, Steel Bridges, Bridge and Culvert Hydrology, Long-span Bridge Design, Bridge Construction Technology, On-site Internship of Outstanding Engineers, etc. In recent years, The department has undertaken scientific research and technical services for large-scale bridge projects such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Wuhan Yingwuzhou Bridge, Yinchuan Binhe Bridge, Yuekou Hanjiang Bridge, Xiangyang Sulingshan Bridge, etc. The department has achieved important progresses in the fields of bridge construction monitoring technology, bridge performance evaluation and reinforcement technology, bridge health monitoring, bridge wind and earthquake resistance, structural optimization and intelligent design, subgrade and pavement materials, etc.

The department has 2 undergraduate outstanding engineer classes every year, with about 80 students; it recruits about 30 full-time academic (Civil Engineering/Bridge and Tunnel Engineering) and professional (Civil Engineering and Water Conservancy) master students; and recruits 2 to 3 full-time doctoral students. It has established engineering internship practice teaching bases with large central enterprises such as CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Company and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, and has established graduate workstations with enterprises such as Wuhan Municipal Construction Group.

Overview:

The Department of Road and Bridge Engineering currently has 16 faculty members, including 15 full-time teachers and 1 experimentalist specializing in experimental teaching and management. Among the full-time teachers, there are 3 professors, 10 associate professors and 2 lecturers. Among them, there are 2 university-level scientific and technological innovation talents, 1 excellent-courses famous teacher, and 2 famous young teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 14 have doctoral degrees and 11 have overseas study or postdoctoral experience.
