Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering

Overview:

The Department of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology was established in 2010, and it was among the first batch of higher education institutions approved by the Ministry of Education to offer the major of "Building Energy-saving Technology and Engineering." In 2014, it was designated as a National Specialty Construction Point and included in the talent development plan for strategic emerging industries in Hubei Province. In 2022, it was selected as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program. Currently, the department has a faculty of 12, including 4 professors (3 of whom are doctoral supervisors), 3 associate professors, 1 specially appointed associate researcher, 3 lecturers, and 1 senior experimentalist. The faculty boasts extensive international academic experiences. The department has built a comprehensive experimental teaching base spanning over 300 square meters, with equipment valued at over 4 million RMB, covering fundamental experiments, fan coil experiments, ventilation experiments, etc. In 2018, the successful establishment of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Virtual Simulation Platform integrated practical experience with theoretical knowledge. Since 2010, the department has achieved remarkable research outcomes, securing 1 National High-level Youth Talent Project, 1 International Cooperation Project of National Key R&D Program, 7 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 3 sub-projects of the National Science and Technology Support Program, and 1 Hubei Provincial Innovation Group Project. Over 100 SCI papers have been published, and more than 40 patents have been granted. In collaboration with other disciplines, the department has jointly established the Hubei Provincial Green Intelligent Building Engineering Technology Research Center. Currently, the department has cultivated over 100 undergraduate students, 40 master's students, and 6 doctoral students. To promote academic innovation, efforts are underway to establish a New Energy Building Environment Laboratory, a Flow Field Simulation Laboratory, and a Green Building Simulation Training Room.

Overview:

The department currently has 12 full-time faculty members, including 4 professors (3 doctoral supervisors), 3 associate professors, 1 specially appointed associate researcher, 4 lecturers, and 1 senior experimentalist. Among them, 1 individual is recognized as a national-level high-level talent, another serves as the leader of the innovation group in Hubei Province, and one has received recognition as a high-level young talent at the provincial and ministerial level. Additionally, 1 faculty member is designated as the responsible professor for the school's characteristic program, another is recognized as a teacher of excellent courses at the university level, and 2 faculty members are acknowledged as young teaching experts at the university level. Furthermore, 1 faculty member serves as a reviewer for the evaluation of national scientific and technological awards, and 1 individual holds the position of editor or editorial board member for an international SCI journal. 10 faculty members have extensive study experience at renowned universities both domestically and abroad.
