The Evaluation of Architecture Program at Our University Successfully Completed  

From May 8 to 9, an evaluation expert team organized by the Architectural Education Evaluation Committee of the National Higher Education Institutions conducted an on-site assessment of the master's degree education in Architecture at our university. The team was composed of Professor-level Senior Architect Li Ziping from China Northwest Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Deputy Supervisor Zhao Qi from the Architectural Society of China, and Professor Huang Yong from Shenyang Jianzhu University.  

On the morning of May 8, the evaluation expert team meeting was held in Conference Room 104 of the University Conference Center. Professor Wang Fazhou, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Wuhan University of Technology, heads of relevant functional departments such as the Graduate School, school leaders, faculty and student representatives attended the meeting. Li Ziping, Leader of the Evaluation Expert Team, introduced the inspection process, and listened to the introduction of the university's development by Vice President Wang Fazhou and the report on the master's degree education in Architecture by Professor Chen Ming, Director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. 

During the on-site inspection, the expert team inspected the educational space of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, observed the exhibition of architectural professional development achievements, excellent student works, and design-type dissertation exhibitions, reviewed teaching management documents, inquired about the situation of teaching and research activities, and convened symposiums for graduate supervisors, professional course teachers, graduate students, graduates and employer representatives. During this period, the expert team focused on inspecting the differentiated training methods and effects of academic and professional master's students, especially the dissertation situation of professional master's students.    

On the afternoon of May 9, at the expert team's evaluation feedback meeting, Team Leader Li Ziping read out the expert team's inspection opinions and pointed out that the university's architecture program has clear educational philosophy and goals, has accumulated educational experience and advantages in talent training, teaching management, academic research, etc., and architecture students have high overall quality and good mental outlook. At the same time, combining with the rectification situation in the previous stage, the expert team put forward valuable suggestions on improving assessment standards, curriculum systems, and file classification.   

Deputy Secretary Zhao Jing represented the university and stated that the university will, in conjunction with the expert team's opinions and suggestions, do a good job in three aspects: "deepening the innovation of educational concepts and building a full-cycle educational ecology", "strengthening the construction of professional connotations and creating a benchmark for new engineering reform", and "optimizing the quality assurance mechanism and cultivating a conscious quality culture", so as to strive to promote the disciplinary development of the architecture program.   

Dean Wu Bin made a statement, saying that the school will comprehensively and deeply understand and analyze the expert team's opinions, actively rectify and improve the teaching management system, and promote the construction of the new Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Building in the Nanhu Engineering Comprehensive Training Center (Phase II).   

Persons in charge of relevant departments of the university, including the Graduate School, Personnel Department, International Department, Experimental Equipment Department, Logistics Management Department, Library, etc., members of the leadership team of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and faculty representatives of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning participated in relevant meetings and evaluation inspection links.
